Meet Katie
When you were five, what did you dream of becoming?
No joke…a teacher! I’d play with a neighbor and take turns pretending to be the teacher:)
What’s one thing on your bucket list?
Visiting Svalbard (the worlds northernmost town, part of Norway)
What inspired you to work in education?
I wanted to be a teacher when I was young because of amazing teachers I had myself. But it wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s, when on a whim, I substitute taught, and realized it was meant to be my career.
What was your favorite book or story as a child?
The Velveteen Rabbit
How do you love to spend your weekends?
I love spending time with my kiddos and husband, just relaxing. I also enjoy reading, exercising, exploring the outdoors, going to the farmers market, spending time with friends and trying new restaurants or old favorites:)
What’s your favorite thing about being part of the CALE community?
I love love love my colleagues. I have truly never worked with such talented and passionate teachers. I am always learning from them which is such a gift. I also love the uniqueness of our student body. Each kiddo brings their individuality to CALE and I love them for that!
Share a fun fact or hidden talent that might surprise us!
I played soccer for 10 years and still love to watch it, I’m learning to play the guitar and after a trip to Alaska I did my undergraduate senior thesis (many moons ago) on polar bears and sea ice!
