Evidence-Based Learning Enhanced by Meaningful Play
At CALE, we develop foundational reading and math skills using evidence-based approaches rooted in the Science of Reading and Science of Math. Our structured literacy approach builds solid reading foundations while we monitor progress and address gaps, and our math instruction ensures students acquire skills without holes in their understanding. Meaningful play is woven throughout our program, allowing students to explore concepts, practice skills, and develop socially through hands-on activities that reinforce academic learning while fostering problem-solving and peer relationships.
"The kids at CALE not only get the opportunity to learn incredible things, but they also get to experience the joy of learning. The teachers instill such a sense of self-esteem and confidence in these kids."

What a "Multi-Age Approach" to Learning Looks Like
Our multi-age approach is a fundamental aspect of our school, enabling us to meet students at their unique stage of learning. In our primary academy, students have the opportunity to work across standards, ensuring they receive personalized instruction that meets their individual needs. Additionally, the multi-age setting allows them to collaborate with older students, extending their learning and fostering effective communication skills with peers outside of their immediate age group. Students in our Junior Kindergarten through First Grade classes have standards they are expected to hit during these three years. Progress is monitored and shared with parents.
Meaningful Play is Essential for Learning and Social Development
Play serves as a cornerstone of our program, allowing students to learn from one another, explore their interests, engage in problem-solving, and navigate the complexities of developing friendships. We provide ample time for meaningful play, recognizing its importance in each stage of their developmental journey.
