The CALE Intermediate Academy is an exceptional learning environment for students in grades 2nd-5th, where they embark on a transformative educational journey.
Our program is designed to solidify foundational skills in reading and math, while simultaneously expanding their knowledge across content areas through an engaging project-based learning approach. As students delve deeper into subjects such as science and social studies, they apply their existing knowledge to explore and analyze concepts, fostering their growth as critical thinkers, readers, and writers.

Balancing Play and Learning
We understand the importance of allowing students to simply be kids. Our program emphasizes ample time for play and social interaction at every level. We believe that through a balance of focused learning and joyful play, students thrive academically and emotionally.
Comprehensive Remediation
Students who require additional support in reading and math receive targeted instruction to address any gaps in their understanding. We employ a robust intervention system that allows students to catch up and excel in the skills they need to succeed.
Foundational Reading Skills
Foundational reading skills taught using a structured literacy approach based on the Science of Reading.
Foundational Math Skills
Foundational math skills are taught using principles from the Science of Math, avoiding holes or gaps in mathematical knowledge.
Nurturing Social-Emotional Growth
We recognize that navigating friendships and interpersonal dynamics can be challenging at any age. Therefore, we prioritize social-emotional growth by providing opportunities for students to learn how to effectively communicate, problem-solve, and work through difficulties. Our students are encouraged to meet challenges head-on, developing resilience and the necessary tools to navigate tough situations. We work collaboratively with parents to foster independence, communication, and self-advocacy skills.
Empowering Writing and Spelling
At CALE, we place significant importance on effective communication. Through our writing-intensive model, students engage in writing across their academic day, honing their ability to articulate their thoughts clearly and express themselves with confidence. We intentionally teach spelling, ensuring our students grasp the rules and meet high expectations for writing and spelling proficiency across all subject areas.

We empower students to take ownership of their learning journey. They learn to monitor their own growth, set expectations and goals, and push themselves intrinsically to strive for excellence.
