At the Columbia Academy for Learning and Enrichment (CALE), we are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all individuals, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet the standards of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA to provide a positive experience for all visitors.

We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing process, and we are continuously working to identify and remove barriers to ensure that every visitor can easily find information, complete actions, and engage with our website’s content.

Conformance Status

Our last accessibility audit took place on March 19, 2026. At that time, the website partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, based on the known and third-party limitations outlined below.

Known Limitations

During our accessibility audit on March 19, 2026, automated scanning tools flagged several items that were subsequently verified as false positives through manual testing. No functional accessibility barriers were identified in connection with the following flagged items:

  • A skip link that is present and functional (confirmed via keyboard navigation testing)
  • Form fields flagged for multiple naming techniques where both techniques resolve to identical label text (confirmed accurate via screen reader testing)
  • A duplicate heading instance where "CALE Families" appears in both the main content area and the footer navigation, which are separate landmark regions providing sufficient context for screen reader users.

Some pages on this site contain links to PDF documents. While we make every effort to ensure these documents are accessible, certain PDFs may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards. If you encounter a PDF that is not accessible to you, please contact us and we will provide the information in an alternative format.

Third-Party Content

Our website includes content from third-party providers that may not be fully under our control. The following may present accessibility challenges:

  • Google Maps
  • Integration with TutorBird for tutoring sign-up and scheduling:
    • Missing title attribute on the embedded iframe
    • Missing aria-controls attribute on the combobox input
    • Empty label text on form inputs
    • Placeholder text used in place of visible labels (WCAG 3.3.2)
  • Integration with Stripe for payment processing:
    • The card input field rendered by Stripe Elements is missing a programmatic label accessible to assistive technologies. This is a limitation of the Stripe Elements iframe and is outside our direct control.
